Nuffnang wishes all Happy Chinese New year…

I’m pleasantly surprised to receive Nuffnang wishes for a Happy Chinese New year. Indeed it is refreshing to have wishes in my email inbox in the morning. Thus I went to read on and I found a paragraph of which I felt was a little “weird”.

CONTINUED GROWTH
Nuffnang.com has had extraordinary growth in 2007, and this looks set to continue in 2008.

There are now over 8,000 Bloggers in Singapore alone. In addition to this, over 90 percent of these
8,000 bloggers are part of the exclusive Glitterati Club. This means increasing benefits in the new
year. Namely, more ads (Since Glitterati have priority for selection), more money (Since Glitterati
members earn more), greater access to events (This year, we are already planning a whole host of
them. Read on for the major one below!), increased chances of winning competitions (Which you all
know have yielded great prizes and equally great participation), and more.

Firstly I must say I am surprised that 90% of Singapore Nuffnang members are part of the Glitterati club. I’m not saying the statistics is wrong, I just meant I was surprised. I must have not been catching up with the news. I thought when Glitterati came out, many people were against going exclusive. Turns out that they were wrong after all!

The second point is that there will be increasing benefits in the year 2008. Nuffnang says that “more ads (Since Glitterati have priority for selection), more money (Since Glitterati
members earn more)”. Wow. When I read more benefits, I thought Nuffnang has expanded and gotten more ads in the form of more advertisers (so more people will be chosen), and then it leads to more money.

WRONG. That whole sentence actually just means nothing. We all know that Glitterati members have a higher priority for selection, and they earn 20% more? So Nuffnang isn’t giving out more ads (its the Glitterati members that get more ads than non glitterati ones), or more money (its the Glitterati members that get more money than non glitterati ones).

I suddenly felt like I’m purposely misleaded.

Well that stat would also include those that became a glitteratti by default because they just hang a nuffnang logo on their blog.

I’m afraid you don’t understand. You don’t become a glitterati member by default. You have to opt in I think.

Thought you might like to know - While I’m definitely not on their mailing list, those numbers seem very far off. Especially since our statistics for Singapore show more than 6000 non-exclusive blogs serving both ad networks :) Something to think about.

Speaking of exclusivity, look out for a big announcement on February 14th from Advertlets! Cheers!
