Today’s run

[September 5, 2010 | No comments | | Category: Running]

It’s time again for a short update that happens every Sunday. Today I pushed myself for one more run round the usual route, hence its about 10.5km today, with quite a decent average speed of 9+km per hour. It could have been better, but this has definitely got to be one of my best runs in the year.

It was the first time I ran with my waterbag, and although the bag was tightened to jerk lesser during the run, I can hear the water in the bag moving about with every step I take, even though I already had music playing in my ears. I guess everyone could hear me coming because of the water sound.

It was a great run. The weather was great. It was cooling with no sun glaring down on me. The clouds are blocking the sun and the paths are still bright.

I am happy that I finished the run without any problems. This run is just like those fun runs people run when they don’t even want to run a half marathon. :) And I did it without paying. I guess it’s time to progressively up the distance. :)

Today’s run

I don’t really like using the Runkeeper software because it is prone to errors when the GPS is not working. I ran three rounds round my usual route today, hence it should be about 7.5km in total and an average speed of 8.5km/h. The GPS went haywire in the final round and shortchanged me.

Today’s run made me really tired but I had a great appetite for dinner as usual after all runs. It makes me feel like working harder also. Maybe I should run more. :)

Today’s Wonderful Run

[August 22, 2010 | No comments | | Category: Running]

Nothing makes you feel better and more motivated than a good run, well almost. There’s other things that can do the same, but running allows you to feel it frequently, that is, if you run frequently too. Your appetite is good, and you feel like you could continue working.

Today’s run follows about a month of inactivity, which saw me doing my ICT in July and then continuing on for one week of Orientation Week, followed by two weeks of school because I was lazy. Hence I started on a shorter route, just about 5km.

It’s the route I always run, around my neighbourhood. Maybe one day I’ll try to experiment with running alternative routes and my distances go longer and longer. After every week I’ll slowly vary my distances and hopefully get used to running long distances before the Standard Chartered Marathon period?

Today’s pace is acceptable but not fast enough. It’s still at a mere 6:20minutes per kilometre. I should train myself to go below 6 soon. I should just open up my legs more and stop thinking I am tired.

Just along my primary school (See Rulang Primary School on the map), Miley Cyrus’ The Climb came on and I thought I should just finish my run before it ended. I had to sprint all the way and it took all my energy. The song ended right at the bus stop outside my house, but I told myself to finish it before the next song comes up. Thankfully I am able to do that. It felt really wonderful accomplishing that little burst of speed. I think I love my legs.

Will continue to work hard and run harder next week! Till then!

Today’s Run

Here’s the statistics for today’s run, which wasn’t exactly good because it got too hot in the middle of the run and then I felt dehydrated. So I stopped the run prematurely. :(

Running 10km

[June 26, 2010 | No comments | | Category: Running]

This is the results of today’s run. I did not maintain my fitness over the years, hence I took too much time to run. By right my normal speed is more than 10km/hour, and today I only managed 8.49km. Indeed different from when I was in NS. Guards would have disapproved. What happened to 10km in 50 minutes? Or 5min per km.

After the run my legs were a little like jelly. The last time I actually ran 10km was probably in NS. Since 2006! That’s a long time. And I am happy I can still run 10km on a whim without properly training for it.

The road to 42.195km is long and tough, and there are many more obstacles to clear before I can reach that level. 12km, 15km, 21km and then going on to 42.195km. Lots of training and preparation, plenty of things to learn.
